CREDO (continued) (Taken from Notes Made at the Conferences of Dom Prosper Guéranger)   Et in Spiritum Sanctum Dominum et vivificantem. I equally believe in the Holy Ghost, that is to say, by faith I go towards the Holy Ghost, I adhere to the Holy Ghost. And who is the Holy Ghost: Dominum. He is the Lord, He is the Master, just as the other two Divine Persons are. But what is He furthermore? Vivificantem, He gives life. In the same way as our soul gives life to our body, so does the Holy Ghost give life to our soul. It is this Holy Spirit who animates her by the sanctifying grace, which He pours into her, and thus does He sustain her, make her act, vivify her, and make her grow in love. In like manner also, in the Church, it is the Holy Ghost who maintains all; it is He who makes all these her members, so divers in nation, language, and customs, to live all of the same life, belonging, as they do, to the one same Body, of which Jesus Christ is the Head. In fact, all have the same faith, all draw the same graces from the same Sacraments, and all are animated by the same hopes, and are in expectation of the realization of these same; in a word, the Holy Ghost sustains all.

First Friday-First Saturday   Just a reminder that this week will be the First    Friday and First Saturday of the month. Our Lord has asked that we make 9 First Fridays in reparation for sin. He has given 12 promises for those who make the 9 First Fridays. The Blessed Mother has requested we make the 5 First Saturdays also in reparation for sin. The reward for fulfilling these requests is far greater than the effort to complete these devotions Please join us. Friday, Confessions 5:30 pm. Mass at 6 pm, followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart devotions and Benediction. Saturday - Rosary 8:25 am. Confessions 8:30 and Mass at 9 am.
The Rosary Sodality - Saturday, May 6th        The Ladies’ Rosary Sodality will meet this Saturday, May 6th after the 9:00 am Mass. All women of the parish are welcome to join, ages 18 and up. Please join in helping our parish with various necessary things such as care and maintenance of the sacred linens and vestments used at Mass, coordinating funeral luncheons, seasonal decoration of the church, acquiring things needed for the church and much more.  No prior experience is necessary.
Women’s Care Center - Thank You Words cannot adequately express my most sincere thanks for the wonderful donation of baby items,     diapers and gift cards you collected this Lent for the Women’s Care Center. What a wonderful idea and so timely for our moms and babies. We are always grateful for help but many times it happens during Advent and so, just as we are coming to the end of those gifts, you have blessed us with more!! We have already met over 1000 women this year and we are expecting 925 babies in the next few months so your gifts will quickly be put to use. We could not help so many if not for the generosity and kindness of our community. Once again, thank you for your     support and care. For Life, Anne Koehl R.N.
Envelopes To help cut down on overhead, those contributing to the church by check are asked to please place their checks directly into the basket without an envelope.  The envelopes are more intended for use by those contributing with cash who would like to receive acknowledgement for their contributions.
News from the Diocese During the month of April, we celebrate national Child abuse Prevention Month.  It is a time: to re-commit ourselves to keeping children and youth safe in our homes, parishes and schools, to review our policies and guidelines for the safety of children, and to celebrate the children and youth in our lives. The Catholic Church joins others across our nation in prayer and effort to end the evil of child abuse.  In June, we will mark the fifteenth anniversary since the bishops of the United States wrote, The Promise to Protect, the Pledge to Heal which contains the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. In this document the church affirms the necessity to work for the prevention of child abuse and to help those victims of abuse heal. Did you know?  Safe Environment training is taking place in all dioceses of the United States. Over two million clergy, employees, and volunteers have been trained to prevent and respond to the abuse of children.  To learn more about the Safe Environment Program in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend go to:  http://www.diocesefwsb.org/Youth-Protection or contact Cathie Cicchiello, diocesan Safe Environment Coordinator call 260-422-4611 x3308  or by email at ccicchiello@diocesefwsb.org.
St. Vincent de Paul “Brown Bag Collection” Please continue to help our food bank here at Sacred Heart by taking a brown bag and filling it with non perishable foods. Every Friday the  Sacred Heart St Vincent de Paul Society has a food bank that is open to anyone living in the Fort Wayne area. We currently serve an average of 110 families. Please bring the filled bag back by the 2nd Sunday of each month and we will exchange it with another empty brown bag. This gives everyone an opportunity to help feed the poor in our city and work on our corporal works of mercy. Thank you in advance to all those who help us keep our food bank going.
Attention Parishioners and Visitors Please join us for a small social gathering after the 8:00am Mass, next Sunday, May 7th in the parish hall (lower level of the old school building) to meet and become acquainted with one another. Donuts and  refreshments will be served. All are welcome!
