Character of Christ's resurrection The Resurrection of Christ has much in common with the general resurrection; even the transformation of His body and of His bodily life is of the same kind as that which awaits the blessed in their resurrection. But the following peculiarities must be noted: - Christ's Resurrection is necessarily a glorious one; it implies not merely the reunion of body and soul, but also the glorification of the body. - Christ's body was to know no corruption, but rose again soon after death, when sufficient time had elapsed to leave no doubt as to the reality of His death. - Christ was the first to rise unto life immortal; those raised before Him died again (Colossians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 15:20). - As the Divine power which raised Christ from the grave was His own power, He rose from the dead by His own power (John 2:19; 10:17-18). - Since the Resurrection had been promised as the main proof of Christ's Divine mission, it has a greater dogmatic importance than any other fact. "If Christ be not risen again, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain" (1 Corinthians 15:14). Importance of the resurrection Besides being the fundamental argument for our Christian belief, the Resurrection is important for the following reasons: - It shows the justice of God who exalted Christ to a life of glory, as Christ had humbled Himself unto death (Philippians 2:8-9). - The Resurrection completed the mystery of our salvation and redemption; by His death Christ freed us from sin, and by His Resurrection He restored to us the most important privileges lost by sin (Romans 4:25). - By His Resurrection we acknowledge Christ as the immortal God, the efficient and exemplary cause of our own resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:21; Philippians 3:20-21), and as the model and the support of our new life of grace (Romans 6:4-6 and 9-11). News from the Diocese During the month of April, we celebrate national Child Abuse Prevention Month.  It is a time: to re-commit ourselves to keeping children and youth safe in our homes, parishes and schools, to review our policies and guidelines for the safety of children, and to celebrate the children and youth in our lives. The Catholic Church joins others across our nation in prayer and effort to end the evil of child abuse. In June, we will mark the fifteenth anniversary since the bishops of the United States wrote, The Promise to Protect, the Pledge to Heal which contains the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. In this document the church affirms the necessity to work for the prevention of child abuse and to help those  victims of abuse heal. All dioceses and eparchies have Victim Assistance Coordinators, assuring that victims of abuse will be heard. In 2016, dioceses and eparchies provided outreach and support to 250 victims/survivors and their families who came forward to report abuse. Continued support was also provided to 1,510 victims/survivors and their families who     reported abuse in prior years. The Victim Assistance Coordinator for the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend is Mary Glowaski. She may be reached at: mglowaski@diocesefwsb.org or 260-399-1458.
Scrip      Scrip can be very profitable for the parish if more families would use it. Please take a look at the order forms at the front entrance to see if there are vendors that you frequent. If so, just fill in the amount you would like to purchase. You will receive a gift card back that can be used anytime and never expires. The form will let you know the percentage the Parish receives from your Scrip purchase. Please submit the form with a check by dropping it in the  collection basket. For any questions please call Kim at the office 260-744-2519. All orders must be prepaid and will be placed on Monday of each week. Your orders will then come to the office and you will be called to pick them up or they will be give to you at church the following Sunday. Due to processing costs, in order to make a few dollars we have to put in an order of $400 or more.
New Life Tree for the Women's Care Center! Thank you to all who participated in the 2017 New Life Tree for the Women's Care Center! This year was the first year for this project and it has been more successful than anticipated, pulling in enough donations for 5 trips to the Women's Care Center. Together we have collected over 1,200 diapers, 100 children's books, 52 packages of diaper wipes, and so much more! The workers at the Care Center were  ecstatic to receive all the donations and overwhelmed with your generosity. Thank you all for your prayers and generous gifts, they are giving hope to struggling families this Easter. May you be truly blessed as well this Easter! Mary Rivera
