1. This is what Christ taught after the institution of the Eucharist.
2. Death, and the sealed tomb signify the little while when they did not see Jesus.
3. He appears after the resurrection, and so the little while when they see him.
4. The Ascension of Christ which ends the little while when they see him.
5. Jesus explains this through the analogy of a woman giving birth.

  SUMMARY OF UPCOMING EVENTS (see announcements for details) May 13 — Troops of St. George May 18 — Women’s Group   You’re invited to a Eucharistic Procession and Festival in Warsaw as we kick off the three-year Eucharistic Revival for the Catholic Church in the United States. June 19th, 2022 in Warsaw, Indiana beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Parish.  Prayer and Music followed by Departure at approximately 3 PM. 5 p.m. Benediction at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Warsaw, then Festival begins. 7 p.m. Festival Conclusion.  Parking is available at the Kosciuszko County Fairgrounds and shuttles will also be available to take people back to their vehicles. “I hope and pray that you and thousands of the faithful of our diocese will participate as public witnesses to our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and an expression of our love for the great gift of the Most Holy Eucharist, the wonderful sacrament of Christ’s love.” – Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades https://diocesefwsb.org/eucharist/   The World Apostolate of Fatima (Fort Wayne - South Bend Division) will be coming to Sacred Heart Parish on Friday, May 13 to commemorate Our Lady's 1917 apparition. Holy Mass will begin at 6 PM, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. Join the World Apostolate of Fatima for refreshments and fellowship following benediction. Learn more: FatimaFWSB.org   EASTER DUTY From the Code of Canon Law: Can.  920 §1. After being initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, each of the faithful is obliged to receive holy communion at least once a year. §2. This precept must be fulfilled during the Easter season unless it is fulfilled for a just cause at another time during the year. Can.  989 After having reached the age of discretion, each member of the faithful is obliged to confess faithfully his or her grave sins at least once a year.   In the United States, the "Easter season" is taken to mean any time from the first Sunday of Lent all the way to Trinity Sunday.   If any children wish to make their first Communion during the Easter season, their parents are asked to contact the pastor.   The Kroger Community Rewards Program has earned Sacred Heart $180.59 for the last quarter, with 57 households participating.   If you have not already done so, please register your card by visiting krogercommunityrewards.com and following the simple instructions; afterwards your Kroger purchases will begin to benefit the parish, with a small percent of what you spend being returned to the parish quarterly. Our organization number is TP793, Sacred Heart Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana. This costs neither you nor the parish anything.   MASS REQUESTS If you desire a Mass to be celebrated for a particular intention, please place the offering along with the specific intention in writing in an envelope clearly marked Mass Intention and place it in the collection basket or hand it to the priest.  For intentions for a specific individual, make sure to specify whether the person is living or deceased. Alternatively, you can approach the pastor or bring or mail the request to the church. We do not accept telephoned or emailed requests. Everything must be together at the time the request is made. Please note that Mass stipends are NOT tax-deductible according to IRS regulations.   PARISH EMAIL LOOP There exists a google group for the parish, so that parishioners can more easily share prayer requests, announcements, and other information with each other.  This can be found at groups.google.com/group/sacred-heart-fort-wayne If you wish to be added to this group, simply log in to a google account, go to the above link, and click the “Request to be added to the group” button.  Note that if you do not wish to receive further emails from the group, you can opt out, and you can also read the past posts to the group there.  To submit a message to the group, send it by email to sacred-heart-fort-wayne@googlegroups.com  If you do not have and do not wish to have a google account, you can request to be added to the loop with your existing email address. Simply email sacredheartfortwayne@gmail.com with your request to be added. You can then continue to submit news items as mentioned above. Please put “for the email loop” or some such specifying verbiage in the subject line when you submit items.   The St. Monica Prayer group was formed for mothers whose children have left the faith or are in danger of leaving the faith. Members support each other by praying specific prayers daily to St. Monica and St. Augustine for everyone's intentions. Membership is open to anyone; we always need more prayer warriors. There are no meetings. To join or to request more information, please email Missy at hamelmc@protonmail.com.   St. Vincent de Paul “Brown Bag Collection” Please continue to help our food bank here at Sacred Heart by taking a brown bag and filling it with non perishable foods. Every Friday the St. Henry-Sacred Heart St. Vincent de Paul Society has a food bank that is open to anyone living in the Fort Wayne area. Please bring the filled bag back by the 2nd Sunday of each month and it will be exchanged with another empty brown bag. This gives everyone an opportunity to help feed the poor in our city with this corporal work of mercy. Thanks in advance to all those who help keep the food bank in operation.   Please note that though the food bank has moved to St. Henry’s for the convenience of the patrons, we nevertheless continue to assist it.
